Lake Union is an area rich in history that is undergoing massive change. Long an area of commercial and light industrial uses, this neighborhood is quickly transforming into a place for Seattle residents to live, work and play.
It has been flagged as a biotech hub with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Zymogenetics, Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and UW Medicine calling it home.
Hundreds of new residents will be moving in shortly with many condominium projects underway. Linking these businesses and residences to Seattle’s downtown core is the now operational South Lake Union line of the Seattle Streetcar. Seattle’s new waterfront attraction, Lake Union Park, added 12 acres of green space overlooking the water which provides for endless hours of outdoor entertainment.
